Day One Hāpai te Haeata’s youth screen storytelling program:

We’re proud to showcase emerging voices from Day One Hāpai te Haeata, with five powerful short films, which explore the universal quest for belonging, identity, and human connection across diverse New Zealand experiences.

From a non-binary person's journey back to their marae, to schoolgirls finding friendship in a world that silences them, to a young migrant confronting cultural differences through food—each story illuminates how we navigate differences, find courage, and ultimately discover our shared humanity. These films collectively celebrate the connections that sustain us: to our cultural roots, to our communities, to our histories, and to each other, even when those connections are tested by prejudice, displacement, or misunderstanding.

Screening in a loop across multiple silo spaces, this free offering invites you to experience stories that challenge, inspire, and unite.
